After a highly competitive selection process, Ecosystem was selected as Coxsackie Athens’ preferred partner to provide design and implementation services on an Energy Performance Contracting basis. Unlike most districts, Coxsackie Athens was already an efficient school system, empowered by a dedicated administration and a knowledgeable facilities department. This challenged Ecosystem to uncover value and innovative improvements.
One of the project’s biggest improvements was the elimination of the remaining steam heating systems, drastically improving classroom comfort, reducing noise, and eliminating temperature fluctuations across the schools. The design also integrates several systems implemented as part of past capital improvements projects so the entire system operates seamlessly, mitigating comfort challenges and reducing the cost of ownership and maintenance over time.
This project is generates approximately 60% in annual energy savings. A Phase II project adding solar energy is in development.
