After a highly competitive selection process, Ecosystem Energy Services was selected as Coxsackie Athens’ preferred partner to provide design and implementation services on an Energy Performance Contracting basis. Unlike most districts, Coxsackie Athens is already an efficient school system, empowered by a dedicated administration and a knowledgeable facilities department. This challenged Ecosystem to uncover value and innovative improvements.
One of the project’s biggest improvements will be the elimination of the remaining steam heating systems, drastically improving classroom comfort, reducing noise, and eliminating temperature fluctuations across the schools. The design also integrates several systems implemented as part of past capital improvements projects so the entire system will operate seamlessly, mitigating comfort challenges and reducing the cost of ownership and maintenance over time.
The project is already underway with engineering activity and preliminary design, in close collaboration with the district and the consulting architects, CSArch. The project is expected to generate approximately 60% in annual energy savings.
