North Shore Central School District, located in northern Nassau County in Long Island, serves almost 3,000 students. The district had been planning to improve classroom comfort by finding a cost-effective and efficient way to provide classroom air conditioning.
Working with the architecture firm MEMASI, the district leadership released an Energy Performance RFP structured to promote the highest energy guarantee standards, evaluate the highest financial value through Net Present Value (NPV), and align performance to the outcomes of the project. Ecosystem was selected after proposing an integrated project that will tackle the complex needs of the district in a holistic manner.
During the collaborative design process, Ecosystem learned about the district’s focus on green solutions and its significant interest in reducing carbon emissions. Solar energy became a large focus of the project, complementing the many energy efficiency upgrades and improvements that were implemented. The result was a cost-effective, operationally resilient, and energy efficient solution that delivered air conditioning. Ecosystem’s willingness to collaborate with the district and manage the project scope allowed for a project and price that best suited the district’s needs.
