CIUSSS de la Capitale-Nationale wins Eurêka! Award

CIUSSS de la Capitale-Nationale won the Public and Semi-public Organizations category at the 5th edition of the Eurêka! Awards organized by Écotech Québec. This honour acknowledges the boldness and commitment to innovation behind its decarbonization project, done in collaboration with Ecosystem.

Through initiatives like the Eurêka! Awards, Écotech Québec helps accelerate the adoption of transformative technologies across sectors and contributes to spotlight clean-tech solutions that advance environmental performance in Québec.

The CIUSSS Capitale-National project stands out for its transformative impact: the organization is converting its aging steam heating system with a hot-water network that innovatively incorporates a subcritical CO₂ heat pump. That change enables a 71% reduction in greenhouse-gas emissions and more than a 30% cut in energy consumption across 19 buildings, a significant environmental and energy performance gain.

The outcome-based approach used to achieve these results translates into a concrete model that other institutions can replicate to accelerate decarbonization.
