The regional chapters of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) recently recognized progress in building decarbonization and energy innovation. Three Ecosystem projects have each earned a Regional ASHRAE Technology Award for their respective chapters.

Lakeridge Health Oshawa (ASHRAE Toronto Chapter)
Implemented a heat recovery chiller system integrated with existing hot and chilled water networks, improving efficiency and cutting emissions.

International Tailoring Company Building (ASHRAE New York City Chapter)
Replaced gas absorption systems with a hybrid air-source heat pump and condensing boiler system, achieving heat recovery and full compliance with Local Law 97.

Allied Properties REIT (ASHRAE Chapitre de la Ville de Québec / ASHRAE Montréal)
Deployed a modular heat pump to recover heat from computer servers and preheat domestic water. It virtually eliminated natural gas use and reduced GHG emissions by 96 %.
These awards recognize outstanding achievements by members who have successfully applied innovative building design in areas of occupant comfort, indoor air quality, and energy conservation.
These achievements reflect what’s possible when clients and Ecosystem work together with shared ambition. Congratulations to the teams who contributed to the success of these projects!
