Congratulations to Labatt Breweries of Canada and The ALLIED Properties for both being honored as finalists for the Eurêka! Award, presented by Écotech Québec.
The Eurêka! awards showcase initiatives that enhance environmental performance across various sectors through innovative solutions and clean technologies. Finalists exemplify best practices in energy efficiency, greenhouse gas reduction, waste management, and water conservation, serving as inspiring models for others while highlighting the contributions of all participating companies.
At Labatt Breweries, Ecosystem collaborated to conduct an energy analysis of their Montreal facilities, leading to the development of a pioneering thermal loop. This system connects the sterilization and brewing sectors, utilizing a large industrial heat pump in the power plant to recover heat from the ammonia cooling system. This innovation represents a world first for the group, achieving significant reductions in energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions.
Similarly, at The ALLIED Properties, our team focused on decarbonizing operations and recovering lost energy. By implementing a modular heat pump to capture energy from multiple computer servers, we effectively eliminated the reliance on natural gas for heating. This, combined with a tank for preheating domestic water, has resulted in a remarkable 96% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions.
Congratulations to the teams for their groundbreaking work on these transformative projects!
