This September, the sixth annual RETHINK Office Conference, hosted by GreenPearl, brought together large office space tenants with office property owners, investors, and developers to connect on important trends. Over 300 attendees learned and discussed via presentations, workshops, closed-door roundtables, panels, and more.
Jaime Pereira, Ecosystem’s Senior Business Development Manager in New York City, moderated a panel on “The E in ESG: How Corporate Tenants and Office Landlords are Addressing Climate Change, Energy Costs & Tenant Comfort”. Panelists came from owners like Hudson Pacific Properties and Kilroy Realty and space users like Oracle and Hewlett Packard, as well as Voltus, an energy management PropTech firm. Panelists agreed that collaboration between tenants and landlords is becoming increasingly critical as ESG and carbon reporting is requiring exacting data from all parties.
Alignment between landlord and tenant is essential for decarbonization and energy efficiency strategies to succeed. But while data collection can inform energy measures, the real work is done in the mechanical room — institutional decarbonization strategies become reality at the asset level.
