Work Completed at Bronx-Lebanon Hospital

Modernization work begun at Bronx-Lebanon Hospital in 2013 has just been completed by our New York team. The 447,195 ft2 building with close to 1,000 beds now has three high-efficiency chillers to help ensure optimal comfort for patients and staff. To house all this equipment (total capacity weighs in at 1,500 tons), Ecosystem needed to build a two-story mechanical room, a change to the building’s structure designed to be as unobtrusive as possible. All work was carried out without affecting hospital operations—no mean feat considering most work was done during the hottest period of the year!

The new equipment is hooked up to a new variable-flow pumping system that, along with high-efficiency chillers, will generate total annual savings of $85,000.

Bronx-Lebanon is the second New York City hospital to benefit from lower energy bills and increased comfort thanks to Ecosystem. In 2012 our team finished work on Brooklyn’s Beth Israel Medical Center, named “Energy Project of the Year 2013” by the Association of Energy Engineers.

Also in New York City, Ecosystem has carried out energy improvements in four schools for the New York School Construction Authority. Recently, the Brooklyn Hospital Center, which has 264 beds and treats 300,000 patients every year, tasked Ecosystem with modernizing its energy infrastructures.

In the state of New York, Ecosystem is currently working on Dormitory Authority of the State of New York (DASNY) and New York Power Authority (NYPA) projects.
